Festival of Bright Ideas Ignites Young Minds with Future You Ambassador Lisa Harvey-Smith

The Festival of Bright Ideas held in Hobart from 22-23 August once again captivated thousands of young Australians, proving that science is anything but dull.

Day one saw an incredible turnout, leaving even our own Future You ambassador, Professor Lisa Harvey-Smith, exhilarated and, by her own admission, “knackered!”

Professor Harvey-Smith, a celebrated astrophysicist and Future You’s Program Ambassador, was at the heart of the action, inspiring countless children with her passion for discovery. Future You were at the heart of the action, thousands of children took our free resources that break down stereotypes and show the diverse and exciting pathways available in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

The success of events like the Festival of Bright Ideas is crucial, it helps young Australians, especially those who might not see themselves in STEM, discover their potential and imagine a future where their interests can lead to groundbreaking contributions.

Future You continues its mission to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, technologists, and mathematicians. By showcasing relatable role models and providing engaging content, it helps children across Australia envision a bright future in STEM.
